Special Education implies educating students with disabilities and the application of exceptional teaching. We believe in providing special education students with “special” teachers to deliver a quality education. It is a commitment we take seriously.
Anthony Elementary provides its special needs students with a Resource Room. This dedicated room allows the student to work in an environment that meets their individual instructional needs. In some cases, major instruction is done in the mainstream classroom. Content Mastery allows for the student to have additional academic reinforcement, as necessary.
At Anthony Middle School our goal is to mainstream all special needs students into the regular classroom. Instruction for our Special Education students is based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) through Inclusion. The special education teacher and aides provide additional assistance to these students in the regular classroom. The purpose of Inclusion is to raise academic expectations of the special education student, improve self esteem, and when possible, move the student towards exiting the special education program.
The Anthony High School Special Education program consists of a Content Mastery room where students receive academic assistance per the individual education plans. Instruction is enhanced by the availability of computers and appropriate software.
The goal of the Anthony Independent School District Special Education program is to meet the academic needs of the student and better prepare them for life beyond high school.
